Introduction
Helderberg Outreach was founded by Helderberg Congregation, Somerset West, South Africa in 2003, and registered as an NPO in 2004. 032-078 NPO
The main aim is to mobilize the faith communities of Helderberg Congregation and Somerset-West Dutch Reformed Church to become Carriers of Christ’s Hope in a holistic way to a World in spiritual, material and socio-economic need and to transform communities.
To mobilize, motivate and equip volunteers (Co-workers) to fulfil their Godly calling (Acts 1:8) and to network and form partnerships to achieve this vision. Our aim is to harness passion for Christ and transform it into action for His Kingdom. #passiontoaction
Short Term Outreaches
Mobilizing by way of short term outreaches takes place on a regular basis.
Governance
Helderberg Outreach is governed by a Management Board and organizes itself in different projects, being Evangelistic-, Development-, and Compassion Ministries. Each Ministry (Project) has its own project team with a project leader. (Volunteer members of the two congregations) The team carries the vision of the ministry and organizes itself to be most effective to reach their goals. The organization currently operates in South Africa, Mozambique, India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
Finances
Each Ministry is responsible to find their own resources and funding, and Helderberg Outreach also has donors that sponsor the collective body of work. The Management Board allocates these funds to the ministries according to their needs via applications.
Helderberg Outreach is registered for Sec 18A and can issue receipts for tax deduction for donors donating for social upliftment and development projects.
